KB0802005: Connection drops

If you are experiencing frequent connection drops, this may be because the wifi chip in your mobile device does not get enough power. Most mobile devices' supply the wifi chip with as little power as possible to conserve battery and reduce heat. An obvious side effect of this is that the signal is fairly weak. WMWifiRouter provides a configuration option (wifi power boost) which is supposed to put the wifi chip in high power mode, which is often necessary for a stable connection. However, some devices do not adhere to this setting, and require this to be configured manually. This can be done by going to Settings, Connections, Wireless LAN, Power Mode, and setting the slider to Best Performance.

Slide 2 Unlock 2 (S2U2), a popular device lock utility, can also be a cause for connection drops. You should turn off all power saving options in S2U2's configuration.

Yet another cause can be your push e-mail solution, see the push e-mail knowledge base article for more information.
