Some issues with connecting your Windows PC or laptop with your device running WMWifiRouter cannot be solved by soft-resetting your device, "repairing" your network card, or switching from DHCP to static configuration and back again.
Many of these issues (for example, the 'missing default gateway syndrome') can usually be solved by resetting your TCP/IP stack.
You can do this in the following way on Microsoft XP and Vista:
- Open the command prompt with administrator privileges
- Windows XP: Make sure your account is an administrator, then click the Start button, click Run, type cmd and press enter.
- Windows Vista: Click the Start button and type cmd in the search. You will see cmd listed in the search results. Right-click on cmd and select Run as administrator from the context menu. You will probably have to click Yes in a confirmation dialog at this point.
- Now that you have the command prompt on your screen, issue the following commands:
- netsh winsock reset catalog
- netsh int ip reset reset.log
- Reboot your computer
This procedure often clears up all sorts of connection issues.
