KB0910029: Connecting to Mac OS X with a password (WEP key)

If you are having trouble connecting a Mac OS X based device to WMWifiRouter's Wi-Fi network and are using a network password (WEP key), please try the following:

  • In WMWifiRouter goto Options -> Configuration -> Wi-Fi Network
  • Make sure the WEP key is 10 digits, like 1234567890
  • Start WMWifiRouter's Cellular -> Wi-Fi mode
  • On the Mac OS X device, find WMWifiRouter's Wi-Fi network

  • In the Airport setup page, enter the 10-digit WEP key you chose before, preceded by the dollar sign, $. In this example, the key you would enter would be $1234567890

  • Alternatively, if you are presented with a screen asking you to choose between the following options:
    • WEP Password
    • WEP 40/128-bit hex
    • WEP 40/128-bit ASCII
    • LEAP
  • Select the WEP 40/128-bit hex option and enter your 10-digit WEP key
Now you should be able to connect!
